The Lord Jesus Christ

Imagine you are sitting with the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ when he asks Peter “Who do you say that I am?”

Various answers are given…a prophet, John the Baptist, Elijah.

Peter then blurts out “You are the Christ.” (Mark 8:29)

You watch the Lord Jesus bless Peter for his correct answer and subsequently say that his “Father and God in Heaven revealed this truth to him.” (Matthew 16:15-17)

You thank God for revealing Jesus as the Christ to his people.

Walking over to the Sanhedrin, you hear the High Priest and Chief Priest ask Jesus, “Are you the Christ, the son of the blessed one?”  You hear Jesus say “I am he.” (Mark 14:61-62)

You then find yourself helping the Samaritan woman draw water from a well for the Lord Jesus.  The Lord Jesus says to the woman, “true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.  He seeks this type of worship.”  The woman responds “I know that the Messiah (called Christ) is coming.  When he comes he will explain everything to us.”  Then the Lord Jesus declares to her “I who speak to you am he.” (John 4:21-26)

You are then in the temple watching Pilate question the Lord Jesus.  He asks Jesus if he is a king.  Jesus replies to Pilate “I am a king.  In fact for this reason I was born and for this I came into this world, to testify to the truth,” (John 18:37) cp (Luke 22:35, 22:70, Matthew 27:11)

Speaking to John he tells you that he wrote his gospel so “One may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God.”  (John 20:31).  He tells me that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born again (1 John 5:1) and that this believer can enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3).

You are then standing in the crowds listening to Peter say “Therefore, let all Israel be assured of this God who made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36) cp (Acts 9:20)

Following Paul, you’re sitting in a synagogue, you hear him preaching “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ.” (Acts 17:3)  In Damascus, Paul “baffled the Jews by proving Jesus is the Christ” (Acts 9:22)

You listen to Apollos “proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.” (Acts 18:28)

Listening to the words of the Lord Jesus saying he was the Christ King. Agreeing with the confession of Peter that Jesus is the Christ.  Listening to John, Peter, Paul, Apollos and all saying, proclaiming, proving that Jesus is the Christ.  One must agree with Paul:

“There is but one Lord Jesus Christ.”

(1 Corinthians 8:6)
